In China rising prices of feedstock naphtha have drive up MEK prices from the end of August,2013. MEK is being sold at higher prices in China’s domestic market, and local producers have reduced the allocation for exports. We think the export quantity in September will be down month on month.
MEK acts as a low-boiling solvent for nitrocellulose, acrylic and vinyl surface coatings, with over half of global MEK demand coming from the paints and coatings industry.
